I’m happy to report that one of my pieces will be featured at The Piano Café. I’ve decided on “Glory Bee” which is on 24x30 canvas. I was notified on Monday by my contemporaries in the PPAA. Unfortunately I hadn’t sealed the painting yet nor had I mounted it with picture wire. Any guess how I spent my Tuesday….
Of course any place in town didn’t have the sealer I needed so I ventured down to Curries in Whitby. Luckily I was on my way to see my brother and sister in law. I needed to get some HD pictures taken of my larger canvases and I do not have a camera. Mom and I ventured out and were able to get the pictures taken before the rain fell. I stopped in to Curries and found what I needed “Liquitex Professional Acrylic Sealer”. Of course they didn’t have the spray but I was glad to get the brush on version. I also decided to buy my self new liner brushes and some new paint. It’s my birthday soon so I decided to treat myself. I wasn’t sure how the sealer would affect the look of my painting. I chose the “matte" finish because I do not like shine. I tested it on some other paintings. Just make sure you take the minimal amount on your brush and lay a thin coat. It won’t cover everything on the first go round. I had to wait three hours and did a second coat. I did the third and final coat this morning. Even strokes are best and make sure to be gentle. It is noted that vigorous application of the sealer may leave a cloudy effect. My picture is signed, sealed and yet to be delivered. I am thrilled that I was able to seal my work and get the HD pictures done. Now I can get them printed off. My next adventure is to use the HD pictures to make a big sign to advertise “The Artist Within". I’ll keep you apprised on that adventure.. but for now I am happy with my progress. If you’re in Port Perry please visit The Piano Café on Queen Street and The Cove Artisan Market on Water Street. That’s where you’ll find my work! Happy Painting!

As The Artist Within, I use the love for my small town of Port Perry as inspiration for my work. As a long time resident and artist I love to showcase its vivid landscapes and bold colors. There is beauty in our own backyard! Archives
